Another in a series of observations of life as I know it.
He has spent the last four years spinning the block, trying to get back into a relationship with the American people. Bro, we broke up with you for a reason.
-Hakeem Jeffries
Who’s going to tell him that the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those ‘Black jobs’?

And now the great work begins. Joy is wonderful, jubilation is elevating, but the party is over. It’s time for boots on the ground.
Once a highly disorganized party that couldn’t take a united stance on anything, the Democrats proved that working under pressure does the trick. They got done in one month what they could barely manage in a year, or longer. Like the student who waits to begin a term paper until the night before the due date, it’s apparently clear that the party just needed the incentive of a hard and fast deadline. Well I’ll be! No matter, we have a magnificent candidate. A cohesive group of delegates. And a fired up electorate sporting many shades of blue. Now it remains to be seen whether the Democrats can sustain this momentum for 75 days. And remain unified under the harsh glare of scrutiny. The debates are on the horizon. The bravado just displayed in Chicago must now hold fast. Someone pass me the Tums.
I will be working the early voting polls next week here in the tiny burg of Harwich. So we’re off to the races in earnest. I don’t think anyone is feeling complacent or comfortable. It’s gonna be a nail biter. November 5th will not be the end of it. Not by a long shot. In fact, I hope the Architect of the Capitol is starting to install 10 foot fences topped with electrified razor wire around the circumference of that august building. Seems to me the National Guard may want to cancel all vacation requests in January. Washington DC boasts three police departments and they might as well start coordinating efforts now. In short, it’s not just going to be 75 days. Count forward to the Inauguration. Then add a few more days for insurance. This, friends, is how our election process will be in perpetuity. Or at least until the Orange Ape dies. Which in my opinion cannot be soon enough. So sue me.
And so it begins. We cannot tire nor rest. Time is of the essence. Democracy itself is on the ballot. Failure is not and cannot be an option. So, pull on your big person pants, your Kevlar vest, a helmet and goggles. Gird your loins and volunteer dammit! There isn’t a moment to lose. Time’s a wastin’. Do something!

Let’ go!
My husband is an election judge as is my daughter, and I’m proud of them both. It’s a very long day’s work! Thank you for your service, too, Jane!
