Hate sells
October 25, 2022
Another in a series of observations of life as I know it.
Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.

Okay, I must admit that I never understood why major corporations, like Adidas, thought it was a good idea to link arms with the volatile man named Kanye West. Who, for this moment in time, also answers to Ye. As in ‘oh Ye of little faith’. To use a term coined by professionals in the mental health field, Ye/West is flaming nuts. And sadly, he appears to be devolving. Spiraling downward like the Archangel Michael. Let’s hope he crashes and burns soon before others get hurt.
Does it seem to you, as it does to me, that Ye/West has been a sty on the public eye for decades? He must suffer from a particularly severe form of AAHD, because he can’t seem to find a job and stick with it. First he was a moderately successful rapper. Then, like so many others, a Kardashian husband. And, correct me if I am wrong, but I think he ran for President, so that he could give any votes cast for him to his golden idol, Orange Jesus. Maybe he thought he would replace Mike Pence after the election? Honestly, it’s hard to say. Ye/West is a menace, a harm to himself and those who spin in his wobbly orbit. Maybe he’s hiding some of the documents that were in the linen closets at Mar-A-Loco. Dismiss that supposition at your peril. The guy is three lightbulbs short of a chandelier. Nutty as a fruitcake. Fill in the blanks as you are inspired to do so.
Add active, evil, dreadful Anti-Semite to Ye/West’s toxic resume. He loathes Jews and revels in saying it out loud. Imagine, if you can—an American black man, whose family tree most likely has branch after branch of slaves—spewing his vitriol at the People of Israel. Long accustomed to being enslaved, murdered, held in dank ghettos and roundly persecuted just about everywhere on earth. Am I missing something here? Did I sleep through the history class that explained why members of one reviled class of humanity despises another? Seriously. I am utterly flummoxed. But I am most of the time lately anyway. The state of human kind eludes my understanding. But, here’s the thing.
Adidas now joins other companies, including JPMorgan Chase and Balenciaga, in ending its relationship with Ye. Well, hallelujah. Perhaps it was the dollar-rattling dissatisfaction of those who crave fashionable sneakers. Clearly, the optics are ugly for a German company to be using a Jew hater as a commercial spokesperson. I will give Adidas points for severing this putrid relationship with a vile and vain man. Better late than never, I guess.
The question remains: Why is Ye/West still given the time of day by anyone other than a few addled skin heads and tiki torch wielding brown shirts. You know, the Charlottesville crowd so loved by Ye’s messiah. Why, indeed, would anyone in the corporate world think that Ye is the perfect pitch man for anything? Because Ye is between gigs, maybe Hobby Lobby will pick him up at a reduced rate. Better yet, I bet the GOP is hiring in Georgia, Florida and Texas. Hate sells.
