Another in a series of observations of life as I know it.
There’s a difference between being vigilant and taking steps to protect your rights versus assuming the worst will happen and curling up into a ball. You can always catastrophize and identify worst case scenarios behind everything that happens in life. Heck, the next time you go to the store, a blimp could fall on you…

Many people have asked me how I am feeling since the election. Am I coping well? It’s a complicated answer with many moving parts. My standard reply is “so how should I be feeling?” In other words, I am not certain there’s a good response. We’re still in that odd, in-between period, wherein things are sort of normal. There are a few rational, sentient beings running out the clock. At present, we are—okay. For now. Yay?
The calendar shows that we are just shy of 2 months before the Grand Coronation. The GOP has limply flexed its aging biceps, throwing the man who would have been the AG into a sputtering dumpster fire. The foundation held. Because there are so many of the Gaetz ilk in the cabinet lineup, it’s hard to guess how many will survive. Gaetz, I think, was a one off. A scape goat. He makes the rest of the Villains, Thieves and Scoundrels Union look a teensy bit better. As such, will the Senate, in its wisdom, advise and consent to the detriment of the MAGA mill or, gasp, in the affirmative. Collectively, I think we can sort of agree that the candidates are a bridge too far. Each one alone might squeak through by promising the moon and stars. Conveniently forgetting as they exit the chamber. In much the same vein as three of the SCOTUS nominees. The Court is where truth goes to die after all.
How am I feeling? Well, not that great actually. A la Joan Didion, I am slouching towards Bethlehem. With nary a star in sight.
Hi, Jane,
I think this is the time we each need to decide what we can do to help guarantee a better, sounder, saner future. We need to write/call our reps (repeatedly) to remind them that they represent ALL the people and that they took an oath to uphold the Constiution. We don't need to reinvent the wheel as there are groups we can join that are focused on the issues - we can add our voice/time/experience to theirs. BUT, we cannot wait to decide what to do - time is a luxury we do not have. Decide what issue(s) is(are) the most important to you, and go fight for it(them)! Always enjoy reading your Observations!
